Houston, our blog is GO for launch!

Posted by Kerry Burrows on

Greetings and salutations from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England.

First things first and they are a few updates for you regarding our product schedule. Sarah and I are so slammed with our schedules that real life (and our two young girls) have conspired against us (see point 7 below) and impacted on our ability to get things finished on time, namely:

  1. Our solid cologne release date won't be the end of this month. Sorry. We're just too damned busy. We want to make its presentation absolutely spot on right and it won't be released before we've nailed that down. I am hopeful it will be before Christmas or just in time for it
  2. Star Noir is coming along nicely but the dispatch date has slipped by four to seven days. This translates as a dispatch window of 7-12/10 and the reason for this is due to a sizeable tallow order of ours being delayed in its dispatch
  3. On that point we have so far made enough to cover our pre-orders, which will be sent on 7th October. We'll also have have a good number ready for the shop. Tomorrow (Monday 12th) through to Wednesday we'll be finishing things off and getting all of the amazing smelling soap bedded down and curing nicely.

At 195 days (and what an amazing 195 days we've had..) after Sarah and I launched Phoenix and Beau Ltd I've finally pulled my thumb out and decided to launch our blog.

Yes, yes, I can hear you asking the same question as I did, which was this: "Where on earth will you find the time?" Mercifully I touch type and can rattle through things quite swiftly. That and I'll be doing my best to keep things short and snappy. So worry not, my soap making capacity won't be interrupted by the occasional visit to my trusty keyboard.

So, why a blog? Well I've been meaning to do this for some time as I feel that it is important for me and also our business. It helps me to centralise my communications with our incredible customers. It helps me to articulate where we've come from, how we're doing and where we're going.

It provides me with excellent means to share more detail with you, to give you a better feel for who we are, what we're working on, how we do things, what inspires us and what's important to us.

Here are just a few of the topics I'll be exploring:

  1. Preparing for Christmas: Yes, I did just say Christmas
  2. Branding and our voice in the void
  3. For the love of soap: Why we chose soap making for our family business
  4. FFF: Filthy Foamy Fallacy
  5. Day dreaming: Scents and visual inspiration
  6. From nothing to awesome: Our design process
  7. The herding of cats: A day in the life of Phoenix and Beau.

Short and snappy (as promised) but before I go I need to extend our sincerest and warmest thanks to all of our customers. Our soap is travelling far and wide around the globe and your feedback and support has been nothing short of amazing.

Thank you so much.

With kindest regards,

Kerry.
